BHADRAWATI 

    Bhadrawati (formerly Bhandak) is a city and a municipal council in Chandrapur district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It lies 26 km from Chandrapur city. Bhadrawati city has recently bagged the Best City in 'Innovation & Best Practices' award under the population Category - 50K to 1 Lakh from the Government of India under Swach Surverkshan Awards-2021. It has also bagged 8th Rank in being the cleanest city under category population Category - 50K to 1 Lakh under Swach Surverkshan Awards-2021 amongst 132 cities nominated. It has an Ordnance factory and several open-cast coal mines. 

 

JAIN TEMPLE 

    Jain temple in the town is very popular with the Jain community. It has very beautiful sculptures. This temple is located as Bhadrawati village, 32 kilometres from Chandrapur town on Central Railways. This temple is said to be extremely old, but the exact time of its construction is not known. There are several other idols in the temples, which were recovered in digging the earth. 

  

 

BHADRAWATI FORT 

   The Bhadrawati Fort is located In heart of Bhadrawati City. This historical monument was made by the Gond king Bhankyasing across 3 acres of land. There is a big gate to the front of the fort, and all four sides are surrounded by huge walls. There is also a deep ancient well at the centre of the fort. The locals say that the fort developed over 2000 years ago. Outside of the forth there are a few houses in which local residents live. Some structural stones are present in near area.  

  

VIJASAN CAVES 
       The Vijasan Caves, located near Bhadrawati in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, are ancient Buddhist caves dating back approximately 2,000 years. Carved during the reign of King Yajna Sri Satakarni of the Satavahana dynasty, these caves feature intricate passages leading to chambers with Buddha shrines. Notably, the main cave extends about 71 feet into the rock, culminating in a chamber housing a carved Buddha statue.    

BHADRANAG SWAMI TEMPLE 

     The Bhadranag Swami Temple, also known as Nagoba Mandir, is an ancient temple dedicated to Bhadranag, a form of Lord Shiva. Situated in Bhadrawati, this temple attracts numerous devotees, especially during festivals like Mahashivratri and Nag-Panchami. The temple's significance is such that it has contributed to the city's name, Bhadrawati. 

 

VARDVINYAK GANESH MANDIR 

    The Varadvinayak Ganesh Mandir, located in Mahad, Raigad district, is one of Maharashtra's revered Ashtavinayak temples. Established in 1725 by Subhedar Ramji Mahadev Biwalkar, the temple enshrines a self-originated (swayambhu) idol of Lord Ganesha, discovered in a nearby lake in 1690. Devotees are permitted to enter the sanctum sanctorum to offer personal prayers, a unique feature among Ashtavinayak temples.
